Below are some general answers to frequently asked questions. You should always confirm with your academic advisor if you have specific questions.

When can I register for classes?
The Advance Registration period happens twice a year:
- In April, students register for both summer terms as well as the Fall.
- In November, students register for their spring classes.
Your eligible registration date is determined on the number of EARNED HOURS. Note: The hours you are currently enrolled in are ATTEMPTED hours so will not be earned until the grades are posted. The chart below will help you establish your status based on your Earned Hours.
- First Year: 0-29 hours
- Sophomore: 30-59 hours
- Junior: 60-89 hours
- Senior: 90 hours until completion

How do I schedule an appointment with my advisor?
While each advisor has a different method to schedule appointments, here are some strategies:
- Simply go to appointments.ttu.edu and follow the prompts. It really is just that easy. Or go to Raiderlink> TTU MyTech> Schedule an Advising Appointment
- Send them an email.
- Call their office.
- Stop by to make an appointment.
Remember that you are not the only student trying to meet with your your advisor. Planning ahead will make sure that you can meet with your advisor prior to your registration date.

How can I see what courses I still need to take?
DegreeWorks is a Web-based tool for students to monitor their academic progress toward degree completion. DegreeWorks allows students and their advisors to plan future academic coursework.
Every class in your degree plan is hyperlinked. Click the link, and you can see which classes are being offered in the following term. Or a DegreeWorks link can be found under Registration on your MyTech tab in Raiderlink.
You can have the perfect schedule, but if you have Registration Holds or are without a Time Ticket, it won't do you any good.
What is a Registration Hold?
Students sometimes find that they cannot register because they have a "hold". There are several types of holds, but registration holds (those that block a student's ability to add and drop classes) are the ones most frequently encountered.
These are placed by various agencies on campus for various reasons so students must be vigilant in checking for these. The earlier you find out about a hold, the more time you have to clear that block.
How do I check my Registration Holds?
- Login to Raiderlink.
- Select "My Tech" tab.
- Select "Registration" from the panel on the left (under "Manage My Enrollment".)
- Then "Registration Status".
- Select the appropriate term (ex. Fall 2017 TTU), click "SUBMIT".
- You will see a several checkmarks. Check here for a hold.

How can I remove a Hold?
ONLY the Originator of the Hold can remove a hold.
You can visit with many offices that remove holds at the Ready.Set.Register. Fair to make a plan to remove any holds.
How do I get a Time Ticket?
Your assigned academic advisor is the only person authorized to issue a Time Ticket to you.

Where is the website where I register?
I'm having trouble registering for a class, what do I do?
Ultimately, that depends on what kind of problem you're having. Here are some of the most common errors and solutions:
Pre-requisite and Test Score Error – this error means that somehow, you don't yet meet the requirements to take the course you're trying to register for. Check the TTU Course Catalog (or you can look on Visual Schedule Builder) to see what (if any) prerequisites are required to enroll in that course. Some courses have course pre-requisites (ENGL 1302 required completion of ENGL 1301 before you're able to enroll) and some courses require specific test scores (math placement, chemistry placement, etc.) Think you meet the requirements? Email your advisor with your name, R#, and the CRN you're trying to register for. They can look into it and let you know what the problem is.
Time Conflict – Two or more of the CRNs you're trying to register for are occurring at the same
time. Check your schedule on Visual Schedule Builder to make sure all of the CRNs
Linked Course Required – This section requires concurrent enrollment in another related section of the same course. Lecture sections typically required concurrent enrollment in related discussions, no credit labs, etc. (Ex. PHYS 1408 Lecture (section number 001) must be taken with one of the linked 'No Credit Lab' (section number 526) and one 'Discussion' (section number 710). You can see the linked courses via Visual Schedule Builder.
Permission from Department – registration is restricted until you contact the department that the course is taught under. (ENGL, MATH, etc.)
Campus Restriction – Registration is limited to students located on the specific campus. Make sure you're trying to register for Lubbock TTU courses, not another location.
Closed Section – this section is full. You'll have to find another available section to register for.
Field of Study Restriction – registration is limited to students within a specific major, minor, and/or concentration.
Maximum Hours Exceeded – you're only allowed to take a certain number of courses per semester at TTU. When on the Add or Drop Classes screen, it will show you the Maximum Number of Hours you're allowed to take. This can only be overridden by Academic Dean's approval.
Class Restriction – Registration for this section is limited to students in a specific classification. (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, etc.)
College Restriction – Registration for this section is limited to students within a specific college.
