Missed Appointment Fee

Our mission is to proudly provide compassionate, high-quality and accessible health care to Texas Tech students. As part of our focus on accessibility of care, we have expanded our Missed Appointment Fee to include Psychiatry appointments effective January 10, 2024. 

If you are unable to keep your appointment, we ask for advanced notice of cancellation to allow us time to schedule other patients who need to be seen in that appointment slot. 

Primary Care Appointments

An appointment will be considered missed and a $25 fee will be charged to your Student Business Account if you:

1. Do not show up for a scheduled appointment with a clinician. 
2. Arrive more than 15 minutes late for your appointment and your clinician is unable to see you.
3. Cancel your primary care appointment less than 1 business hour prior to your scheduled time.

Psychiatry Appointments

An appointment will be considered missed and a $50 fee will be charged to your Student Business Account if you:

1. Do not show up for a scheduled appointment with your Psychiatry clinician.
2. Arrive more than 15 minutes late for your appointment.
3. Cancel your Psychiatry appointment less than 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time.

We will accept cancellation by the following methods:

1. By telephone to Student Health Services at 806.743.2848 Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
2. By messaging your healthcare provider through the My Team Care app.
3. By responding to your appointment reminder text. (Please note that appointment reminders are a courtesy and may not be sent for every appointment. You are responsible for knowing your appointment time at the time you schedule the appointment.)

  

You may submit an appeal request within 14 calendar days of the date the fee was applied to your Student Business Services account by submitting the Missed Appointment Fee Appeal Form.
