Thank you to everyone who donated! Our total donation came to 2,226 pounds! Kappa Alpha Theta won the top Greek Organization award and overall top donation award! Student Union & Activities won the TTU Department competition.
In Lubbock, Texas, the South Plains Food Bank and its network of agencies provide food for an estimated 84,000 different people annually. In any given week, 18,300 different people receive assistance.
58% of the Shelters on the South Plains report that the South Plains Food Bank is the single most important source of food for their agency.
1 in 4 children across the South Plains are at risk of going to bed hungry tonight.
Kids Cafe is an after-school feeding program designed to combat childhood hunger. This program provides hot meals to 1000 children at 21 different sites every day after school in a safe environment. For many of children this will be the only meal they receive that evening.
Families and Children face the greatest need
25% of the households served by the SPFB have children under 18.
7% of those we serve have children under 5 years of age and 13% of the clients we serve are elderly.
