TxDOT and Electric Power Transmission Lines

As the country works to make alternative energy sources widely accessible and usable, challenges arise in coordinating power transmission to the metropolitan areas that need it most, and in increased demand on rural infrastructure. TechMRT and The University of Texas Center for Transportation Research recently investigated the current and future roles of the Texas Department of Transportation regarding electric power transmission lines in highway right-of-ways, the obstacles DOTs face and the responsibilities they have in transmission line siting.
