TECHniques Center- Academic Enhancement program

Prospective Tutors Overview

The TECHniques Center is an academic enhancement program that provides supplemental academic support services to meet the needs and promote the retention of undergraduate students with documented evidence of learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders.

Tutors at the TECHniques Center are trained in workshops and seminars to develop the skills necessary for working with each student's learning style and disability. This makes them eligible for certification through the College Reading and Learning Association. Their main responsibility is providing one-on-one interactive content tutoring, as well as guidance, in the academic and life skills essential for a successful college career.

Benefits:
Flexible hours that you set
Paid training, with meals provided at the workshop
$6.50/hour for undergraduate students and $8.78/hour for degreed students, with opportunities for raises determined every September
Certification from the College Reading and Learning Association (you will receive a certificate for each level you achieve)
Documented experience & evaluations to use for resumes, interviews, and job references

Requirements
40 credit hours at the time of the first tutoring assignment
A cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, and an A/B in the subject tutored
Attendance at all training sessions. There is a workshop held on the first two Saturdays of each semester, and seminars are also held throughout the semester. Arrangements can be made to make-up the training, but only when there is an irresolvable conflict.
A willingness to maintain student confidentiality and follow all the policies of the TECHniques Center.
Two letters of recommendation (1 from a supervisor, 1 from a faculty member)
