Computer Software
The TECHniques Center offers all of the latest and efficient computer software and technology that a student needs to be successful. We have two dozen desktop computers equipped with Windows XP, Microsoft Office, and any other basic software you need to perform your duties as a student. Each computer has high-speed internet and TECHniques students can print papers, assignments, and notes for free. Students are also welcome and encouraged to bring their own laptops and take advantage of the wireless internet found in the center.
Read and Write Gold
In addition to the basic software that the TECHniques Center provides, it also provides this additional piece of software that can be of great benefit to students with learning disabilities. Read and Write Gold is a comprehensive learning assistance program that enhances a student's learning experience. Students can have their textbooks scanned at TECHniques and Read and Write Gold will literally read the scanned books back to the student on their computer. This program also boasts an advanced dictionary, research capabilities, and a screen reader. For the students needing to study at home, they can receive a complementary copy of Read and Write Gold to install on their home computers.
Kurzweil 3000 is also available by request for students who prefer it.
