The Lubbock Pre-freshman Engineering Program (TexPREP-Lubbock) is an academically intense, mathematics-based, summer enrichment program. The program is presented in six and a half-week sessions over the course of four summers. For 22 years, the program has been conducted at Texas Tech University through the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and has as one of its goals to “lay the foundation to be a successful employee in the work force.”

TexPREP provides students who have demonstrated mathematical ability through academic performance and teacher/counselor recommendations an opportunity to study math, science and engineering.  These students are equipped with academic and intellectual skills to succeed in high school level college preparation courses, college programs, and jobs in engineering, mathematics, and science. The program is targeted toward, but not limited to, students who are members of minority groups or female (groups who have traditionally been underrepresented in the professions of engineering, mathematics, and science).

This website was created by Karen Green, Leticia De Larrosa, and Terrell Perkins. Leticia is a former participant of the program. Karen completed the program in 1998 and worked for PREP for 3 years. Terrell completed the program in 1998 and has worked for PREP for 6 years. It was then redone in 2005 by Michael Meseke. Currently, the website is being kept up-to-date by the office staff: Isabell Martinez, Aziba Ajmal and Kristin Schneider.
