TexPREP-Lubbock Director

Dr. Jerry Dwyer is the Director. He has a B.A. in mathematical sciences, an M.Sc. in computer science, and a Ph.D. in applied mathematics, all from the University College Cork, Ireland. His  dissertation was in numerical methods for partial differential equations, with applications in mechanics. He worked for many years in computational mechanics related to fracture, composite materials, and glaciology. In resent years, he has worked on math education, and developed a range of K-12 outreach projects at The University of Colorado and the University of Tennessee.  He arrived at Texas Tech as an assistant professor in the fall of 2003, and became Director of TexPREP in 2004.

Jim Brown is the Assistant Director.  He has a B.A. and an M.S. in mathematics from Texas Tech.  He has taught math for twenty-seven years in junior high, high school, community college, and university settings. He has worked with Shake Hands with Your Future, a Texas Tech summer program for gifted and talented students.  He has been in charge of day-to-day operations since 2004.
