INSTRUCTORS
The TexPREP
staff includes instructors who are community professionals, college faculty
members, public school administrators or teachers, and graduate students in mathematics,
engineering, and higher education. In
addition, we use college undergraduates majoring in engineering, science,
education,
computers, and other fields that participate as mentors and program assistants.
We also employ high school students who have completed PREP.
TexPREP instructors not only have the
experience necessary to provide valuable and well-informed education, they were
also chosen because of their performance in the classroom and desire to teach
bright young minds. The undergraduate program assistants allow the TexPREP
students to hear about the college experience first hand. Since these
assistants are majoring in the fields that most PREP students are considering,
the undergraduates are an invaluable source of information concerning classes,
extracurricular activities, and social life. The high school TexPREP
assistants serve as both
exceptionally talented tutors and very enthusiastic peers. These students
understand the needs and desires of the PREP participants and provide a link
between the instructors and the TexPREP students. All of these people come
together to help create an exciting, friendly experience that is fun,
challenging, and educational.
