Master Electrician/Scene Forman - Theatre & Dance
Emmett Buhmann received his BFA from the University of Wyoming in 2002, and his MFA in Lighting Design from the University of California, Irvine in 2009. Before coming to Lubbock he worked regularly with the Irvine-Barclay theatre and South Coast Repertory Theatre, both located in Orange County, California. In addition to acting as Master Electrician for the TTU Theatre & Dance Department, Emmett has designed lighting at multiple venues in the Lubbock area including the Cactus Theatre, the Garza Theatre, Lubbock Christian University, Lubbock Civic Center and The Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts. Emmett regularly designs lighting for Flatlands Dance Theatre, Ballet Lubbock, Lubbock Moonlight Musicals and Texas Tech University, and has recently worked with Lubbock Community Theatre and HUB Theatre Group. In the summer of 2013 Emmett was involved with the New York premier of “Three Eleanors: A Solar Powered Paper Doll Production” at Stage Lest Studio in Manhattan, and he travelled to Seattle, WA to design the lighting for the Balagan Theatre’s production of Les Miserables. When not working, Emmett loves spending time with his wife and daughter, and going on long drives across the West Texas Plains.
