Backup Policy
- Nightly incremental backups are completed every night.
- 30 Versions of each file are backed up for 30 days.
- If a file is deleted then only 1 version of the deleted file (most recent) is kept for 45 days.
- Archiving for 1 year is available on a request by request basis.
- Note: Open Files are not backed up (i.e. Outlook pst files won't be backed up if you have them stored on the server and you keep your Outlook open when you go home at night.
TOSM Server Support Service
- Monitors the backup system daily
- Will notify the POC (point of contact) of any problems with their server’s backup
- Completes restores under the SLA time frame
- Ensures there is a copy of a system’s data offsite at all times for disaster recovery
- Critical school systems will receive priority support
- Will require admin privileges on the servers for access of the backup system and troubleshooting.

Service Level Agreements
- Server Support manages all backups and restores: Only designated point of contact can request a restore.
- Restore files and directories – 4 hours
- Restore entire system – 24 hours
How the Backup System works
We do Full backups once a week with every other night being Incrementals. We keep the backups for 30 days.
One copy is for onsite storage and one is used for offsite/disaster recovery storage. The offsite storage building is in the basement of the Administration building.
Limitations to this backup are that you can not backup files in use. Most of the time these are database files but they can be regular files currently being access by someone. We have other methods of performing backups for database files.
