Catch the Engineering Bug

Catch the Engineering Bug Banner

  • The Society of Women Engineers welcome 80-100 girls from local middle schools to come and learn about engineering.
  • This is an all day event beginning around 9:00 a.m. and ending around 5:00 p.m.
  • The girls are first shown around the engineering key in a series of demonstrations of all the different engineering disciplines.
  • The demostrations are performed by graduate students and professors alike.
  • After learning about the many different ways that engineering is used to enhance our world, the girls are then able to have fun with hands-on group activities such as a newspaper bridge, egg drop, tallest tower, etc.
  • This day of fun and education is free for all participants.
  • Each participant will leave with a free shirt and a better understanding of the many possibilities that engineering holds!!!
