Tutoring Economically Disadvantaged Middle School Students
- The Human-Centric Design Research (HCDR) Lab at the Department of Mechanical Engineering has developed a partnership with the Dunbar Middle School at Lubbock, Texas.
- Dunbar's student body is comprised of 425 students: 30% African American, 65% Hispanic, with 94% economically disadvantaged.
- All students in this school have opportunities to have field trips to the HCDR Lab to tour the lab, learn human modeling and simulation models, and operate motion capture equipment.
- The objective of this outreach program is to encourage these special students to enroll in colleges and study science and engineering through field trips.
