Our School
Texas Tech University Independent School District (TTUISD) was established by the Texas State Board of Education in 1993. Initially, we opened a high school and gradually added an elementary and middle school. Annually, we hold a graduation ceremony on the Texas Tech campus where our high school graduates have the option to participate in a graduation ceremony. To date, TTUISD is composed of over 2,400 students from 26 states in 12 countries and we’re continuing to grow!
Accreditation
At TTUISD, we understand the importance of providing students a quality educational experience. Our school is accredited by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and all of our courses and Credit by Exams (CBEs) align with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Because of our accreditation, all students, regardless of their geographical location will be required to pass the exit-level TAKS/EOC/STAAR. TTUISD students who successfully complete the required coursework and pass the required Texas state-mandated exams will graduate from TTUISD’s high school with a Texas high school diploma.
A K-12 School Supported by a Top Tier Research University
TTUISD is housed in University College at Texas Tech University in Lubbock Texas. Thus, our students are not only TTUISD students; they are Texas Tech “Red Raiders”. Since TTUISD is part of a top-tier research university serving over 30,000 college students annually, our TTUISD administrators, counselors and instructors recognize the importance of education, and we are dedicated to prepare and “tool” students with the knowledge and academic skills needed to be successful. After you have had the opportunity to learn more about what we offer and who we serve, we hope you will begin thinking about whether TTUISD could be your school of choice.
Who We Serve
There is no “typical” TTUISD student. TTUISD’s diverse student body is composed of homeschoolers, students who are pursuing professional careers, and students living overseas with their families.
While our student body is diverse, our students have one thing in common - they want to be a part of an accredited school that offers them the flexibility to learn when and where they choose. Because our school is not tied to an academic calendar schedule and our coursework is self-paced, it is possible for students to complete a grade in less than a year.
How It Works
Interested students will first apply to TTUISD by completing the TTUISD Pre-admission Form. Applications are accepted year-round; there are no application deadlines. Once a student completes and submits a Pre-admission Form, TTUISD will request official transcripts from all other schools attended. Once the Pre-admission Form and official transcripts have been received at our office, a TTUISD counselor will evaluate the student’s application along with their transcripts and prepare a summary of credits to determine what courses need to be taken. Upon acceptance, TTUISD students will work closely with a TTUISD counselor to determine what courses need to be taken.
