Emerging Musician's Embrace for Digital Age Leads to TTUISD
November 10, 2010
Ren Patrick is an aspiring musician who’s made the Internet her best friend. With her embrace of the digital age, it is no surprise she chose to attend Texas Tech University Independent School District.
Ren spends a lot of her time on the Internet, boosting up her career through social media sites such as MySpace, Facebook and Twitter.
“I can’t tell you how much all three of these sites have helped out my career,” she said. “I’ve met so many people, been able to invite fans to my shows, and let visitors listen to my music.”
But Ren also wanted to use the Internet to help accomplish another goal—education.
“I was looking for ways I could finish high school online with a really good program,” she said, “because I want to pursue my career as a musician but still further my education.”
Counselors, teachers and various actors recommended TTUISD to her.
“They say TTUISD is the most respected online program in Texas,” she said. “With TTUISD, I’m not closing any doors for whatever may be in store for my life, I’m just opening more.”
Currently, Ren is pursuing her dream to become a musician and write timeless music.
“I feel like music runs through my veins. I love the way it makes me feel, and how you can really affect people with it,” she said. “Ultimately, I want to inspire people to be inspired.”
Ren said she does not want to be forgotten and wants to write music that will always be remembered.
This goal is near for Ren because she has been working on her career since she was four years old. In addition to being a musician she has modeled, acted and studied abroad. However, Ren is more inspired by music and has begun working on a CD.
“I want to change lives through music and make people think, move and feel,” she said. “I’ve never wanted anything besides this, and have known this is what I was meant to do. My next step in my career is to make it happen.”
Currently, Ren resides in Los Angeles and is recording, rehearsing and touring.
“With TTUISD, I can do what I love and pursue my dreams while still receiving a quality education,” she said, “I think it’s great that TTUISD is available for people in search of their dreams.”
