2014 State Assessment Information
January 24, 2014
Students enrolled full-time with TTUISD are required to pass the STAAR-EOC or TAKS exams in order to meet the graduation requirements established by the Texas Education Agency. Students should contact Pam Butler, TTUISD District Testing Coordinator, for more information regarding state assessments and to register for the exams.
STAAR: The State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) is the standardized testing program for students enrolled in schools who are accredited by the Texas Education Agency.
Elementary/Middle School Students: STAAR Testing
TTUISD elementary and middle school students residing in Texas should take the appropriate STAAR exams in their local school district. Texas Tech Elementary and Middle School students, who are enrolled in our full-time program, may test “out-of-district” if their local public school has sufficient testing materials and personnel to accommodate out-of-district students. Students must be enrolled in, or have completed, the second semester (B) of a course to be considered eligible for STAAR.
High School Students: STAAR-EOC Testing
Students who have entered ninth grade in the 2011-12 school year, or later, are required to take the STAAR/EOC exams to meet Texas graduation requirement. Middle school students enrolled in a high school course with an EOC exam will be required to take the EOC exam for the course. The STAAR/EOC exams will be given in three times each year - Fall, Spring, and Summer.
High School Students: TAKS XL Testing
Students who entered 9th grade prior to school year 2011-12, will be required to take the TAKS XL (exit level) exams to meet graduation requirements and receive a diploma from Texas Tech University High School.
