Wind Energy 101: Introduction to Wind Energy

This online course is designed to provide an overview of current wind power technology, from its technical aspects, to operational, geographic, and economic issues. Course topics include wind characteristics and measurement, conversion of wind energy to electricity, wind turbine architecture and technology, economics of wind energy, and other wind energy applications. This 10-contact hour offering is available to any professional interested in obtaining a general overview of the wind industry and its associated issues including engineers, architects, city/county officials, land owners, environmental specialists, attorneys, legislators, permitting and regulatory agents, and any other professional wishing to enter or understand the industry. The course is structured into 12, easy-to-understand online course modules. Enrollees should be able to complete the course in 6 weeks but they will have access to the content for a longer period of time. Texas Tech University will award a total of 12 continuing education credits (1.2 CEUs) for successful completion.
