The Texas Tech UIL Staff and Executive Committee for Region 1 - 5A schools extend to all member schools, administrators, coaches, contestants, and guests our most sincere welcome to Lubbock and Texas Tech University.

Through the combined efforts of various contest directors, Texas Tech University and the University Interscholastic League strive to make each year’s regional meet one of quality and efficiency for the participants involved by supporting the following:

Statement of Purpose

The University Interscholastic League believes:

That most students enjoy the pursuit of excellence and seek opportunities to test themselves against their own accomplishments and those of their peers,

That such opportunities are best provided through properly conducted and equitably administered competitive activities,

That the classroom is enriched by the flow of the student energy into the more intensified arena of competition and back into the classroom.

Therefore, we affirm that students are the focus to our endeavor and deserve an opportunity to:

bullet

refine physical and mental aptitudes,

bullet

nurture self-realization and build self-confidence,

bullet

feel a sense of pride and dignity,

bullet

experience teamwork and develop a sense of fair play,

bullet

develop the ability to lead and the willingness to follow,
