Spring 2011 Events
Lone Star Diversity Colloquium March 25-26 Students traveled to Arlington, Texas to attend a colloquium designed to encourage more underrepresented minorities, women, and first generation college students currently enrolled at Texas colleges and universities to stay in Texas to complete their graduate education.
TTU Undergraduate Research Conference April 11-15 Students presented their research in paper and poster formats on the TTU campus in Lubbock, Texas.
Texas Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol. February 14, 2011. CUR students discussed their research with Texas lawmakers at the Capitol.
Fall 2010 Events
Community Service Project - Habitat for Humanity. October 23, 2010. CUR students volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. Students performed various tasks as they helped build a home.
Race for the Cure. October 2, 2010. The Center supported the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, an annual event dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness.

SACNAS National Conference. September 30-October 3, 2010. Select students involved with the Center for Undergraduate Research, Plains Bridges Program, and HHMI at Texas Tech were invited to attend the SACNAS Conference. These students presented their research and were also provided with the opportunity to view other student's research.
Ice Cream Social. August 23, 2010. The Center held and ice cream social for CUR and HHMI Scholars.
New Scholar Orientation. August 23, 2010. The Center held their annual Scholar orientation for those recently accepted into the program.
Spring 2010 Events
Undergraduate Research Conference. March 29 - April 1, 2010. The Center, along with a number of partners, hosted the first campus-wide undergraduate research conference at Texas Tech University.
Community Service. February 6, 2010. CUR students once again had a chance to volunteer at the Haven Animal Care Center on Saturday morning. Students brushed and socialized with the dogs.
Luncheons. Spring 2010 Semester. Occasionally, the Center for Undergraduate Research will host a luncheon for the various organizations (faculty/staff/student) in order to promote undergraduate research.
Fall 2009 Events
End of Semester Bowling Social. December 17, 2009. CUR students got together to end the fall semester by going bowling. This helped them de-stress over finals before leaving for the semester.
Holiday Social. December 2, 2009. CUR, HHMI, and Honors URF students prepared to end the fall semester by joining us for a holiday social. Faculty mentors, CUR advisory committee members, and undergraduate researchers enjoyed lunch, holiday treats, and great conversation.
December Graduates. December 2009. CUR students get ready to end their undergraduate years at Texas Tech University and prepare for graduation.
Community Service Project. November 20, 2009. CUR students volunteered at the Lubbock Boys & Girls Club Annual Thanksgiving Dinner. They helped serve food to the attendees and enjoyed some fun and games after the dinner with the boys and girls.
Community Service Project. November 7, 2009. CUR students had a chance to volunteer at the Haven Animal Care Center on Saturday morning. While there, students filled the dog houses with hay to keep the animals warm in preparation of cold temperatures.
HHMI Halloween Party. October 30, 2009. HHMI and CUR students had a festive Happy Halloween with a costume party complete with great Halloween treats and tricks!
Fall Advisor Social. October 23, 2009. Advisors at TTU had the opportunity to come check out the CUR Office and see what we can offer and provide students. They were treated to Halloween snacks and goodies for all of the help they provide the Center and its endeavors.
Students Presenting Research. Fall Semester 2009. Collection of students involved with conducting undergraduate research with the Center for Undergraduate Research, who presented their research at conferences during the Fall Semester of 2009.
2009 SACNAS National Conference. October 14-17, 2009. Select students involved with the Center for Undergraduate Research, Plains Bridges Program, and HHMI at Texas Tech were invited to attend the SACNAS Conference. These students presented their research and were also provided with the opportunity to view other student's research.
Corn Maize: New Scholar and Ambassador Social. September 17, 2009. Newly selected CUR Scholars had a meet and greet with the Ambassador group to get to know each other and build teamwork while navigating the corn maize at At'l Do Farms.
Summer 2009 Events
Plains to Bridges: Undergraduate Research Week. July 12-17, 2009. Students from South Plains College were hosted on the Texas Tech campus for Undergraduate Research Week. The students are involved in the Plains to Bridges program, and attended workshops, socials, and other events designed to introduce the students to Texas Tech University and the benefits of conducting undergraduate research.
National Hispanic Institute: The Great Debate. July 9-12, 2009. Select ninth grade students who are growing up in Latino communities were hosted on Texas Tech campus as part of the National Hispanic Institute Great Debate program. These students were given the opportunity to come together in a competitive and educational environment where they were given the experience of working as a team and enhancing their leadership capabilities while learning the skills of communication and debate.
Texas Tech University Summer Institute. June 10-11, 2009. Lubbock youth were invited to the campus of Texas Tech University as part of the Summer Institute program. Dezirae Hood, a student currently involved with her own research, tells the youth of her experiences and involvement with undergraduate research.
Shake Hands with your Future and Run on the Wind. June 9, 2009. The Center for Undergraduate Research hosted an ice cream social for young students involved with the Shake Hands with your Future and Run on the Wind program. The students were introduced to the Center for Undergraduate Research and the possibilities of future involvement with undergraduate research.
Spring 2009 Events
The Center for Undergraduate Spring Banquet . April 16, 2009. The Spring Banquet was hosted to recognize the achievements and hard work of the scholars who were involved with conducting their own research during the academic school year. Also recognized were Outstanding Undergraduate Researchers from HHMI, the Honors College, and the Center for Undergraduate Research. Outstanding Faculty Mentors from the above programs were also recognized for their time and efforts in mentoring students.
Texas Tech University Undergraduate Research Conference. April 3-5, 2009. The Center for Undergraduate Research, HHMI and the Honors College hosted this research conference to highlight the research conducted by undergraduates here on the Texas Tech campus. Students were able to present their research either with a poster or oral presentation.
Lone Star Graduate Diversity Colloquium. March 28-29, 2009. Students from Texas Tech University were invited to attend the University of Texas in San Antonio. While there they had many opportunities to network and learn of the many opportunities available to them.

These students presented their research and were also provided with the opportunity to view other student's research.
