Fracturing Impacts and Technologies Conference Approaching
Registration is now open for the Fracturing Impacts and Technologies (FIT) Conference to be held on September 4th & 5th at the Overton Hotel. Students attend free and are encouraged to submit an abstract for the poster presentations. Winning posters will receive a cash prize.  

The conference provides an excellent opportunity to present and discuss current innovations and applications for reducing the environmental footprint of fracturing operations. The conference plenary will also feature distinguished speakers from federal and state agencies, as well as industry leaders and academic researchers who will discuss impending policies and technological breakthroughs. Concurrent sessions will also discuss potential economic benefits, environmental risks and legal considerations for land owners.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory Call for Proposals
Proposals for beam time at Oak Ridge National Laboratory's High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) and Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) will be accepted via the web-based proposal system until 11:59 a.m. (NOON) EASTERN TIME, Wednesday, October 15, 2014.

Proposals will be reviewed for feasibility, safety, and potential for high-impact science. Users for approved projects must complete access and training requirements prior to beginning experiments. Specific information about this call and about each of the instruments available during this experimental period is included on the ORNL Neutron Sciences web site at http://neutrons.ornl.gov/. To learn more about submitting a proposal for beam time, go to http://neutrons.ornl.gov/users/proposals.shtml or directly to the proposal system at www.ornl.gov/sci/iums/ipts/. Previously submitted proposals may be used as the basis for new proposals.
