EH&S Staff Members Receive Certifications

Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) personnel continue to receive certifications to better serve the Texas Tech community.

Ryan Dixon, a chemical inventory specialist for EH&S, recently passed the Certified Hazardous Materials Management (CHMM) exam. The certification is sponsored by the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management, a nationally recognized organization.

Brandon Mount, a laboratory safety specialist for EH&S, recently passed the Occupational Health Safety Technician (OHST) exam. The certification is sponsored by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, a nationalyl recognized organization.

“Both the CHMM and OSHT exams are difficult and require a lot of preparation,” said Cliff Harris, interim director of EH&S. “Our department supports the time and effort it takes to obtain certifications.”

Harris emphasizes that acquiring certifications increases staff knowledge to better serve the university in environmental health and safety areas.
