From the President: Faculty Awards
M. Duane Nellis

Here we are at the start of another academic year, and my first as president of Texas Tech. I look forward to your leadership in teaching, research and creative scholarship as, together, we lead Texas Tech University forward to new levels of success.

Without our students, my communicating in this setting to you wouldn't be possible. And, without your dedication and compassion in teaching our students, our graduates wouldn't have opportunities available to them following graduation. Our students and graduates excel in the classroom and workforce, and do so through their own spirit and determination and by the example you set for them in the classroom.

As you gain national recognition through your scholarly activities you also deserve to be recognized for your efforts through national awards. I am committed to helping where I can in bringing recognition to our most deserving faculty, staff, and students.

Recognition opportunities exist for all areas of campus, including students, staff and departments. We must take advantage of these as recognitions and related rewards for your hard work and to showcase our university for future faculty and students, and elevate Tech’s presence nationally and internationally.

It's been my pleasure to serve as your president the last two months and I'm excited for what lies ahead. Again, together, we can continue to deliver invaluable educational opportunities for students and lead Texas Tech into the future.

M. Duane Nellis is president of Texas Tech University.
