New Scholarship Catalyst Program Announced
The Offices of the President, Provost and Vice President for Research, announce the availability of funding from the newly created Scholarship Catalyst Program (SCP). Through this program, $75,000 is available for research in the arts and humanities, and an additional $75,000 for research in the social sciences. The SCP replaces the Internal Competitive Funding Opportunity to Advance Scholarship in the Creative Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS), and the Proposal Stimulus Program (PSP).
The goals of this program are:
- Level 1 awards (up to $3000) are intended to provide seed support to those individuals who have not in the past 24 months sought external funds or engagement to further their scholarship or research.
- Level 2 awards (up to $5000) are intended to enhance the quality of currently unfunded grant proposal applications made to extramural entities during the past 24 months. Funds will be provided to support research/scholarly activities that address specific criticisms of the original proposal application in order to generate a subsequent application that will be more competitive.
Funds awarded under the SCP are to be used for creative works and research/scholarly-related expenses which may include graduate or undergraduate student salaries (but not faculty salaries), specialized equipment, supplies or other activities that promote proposal or external engagement resubmission/competitiveness.
Faculty whose primary appointment is at Texas Tech University (including adjunct and visiting faculty, if they are co-investigators with tenure-line faculty) who propose research in the arts and humanities or the social sciences. Faculty with current start-up funds are ineligible to participate as PIs but may participate as unfunded co-investigators for the SCP.
Proposals will be reviewed by TTU faculty and possibly other reviewers not participating in the program.
Submissions are due Sept. 15, 2014. All expenses must be budgeted beginning Nov. 1, 2014 and expended prior to resubmission on Oct. 31, 2015.
