Animal Specific Training Courses Available

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) now has training modules available for individuals that work with animals.

Animal use training modules are offered through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) and include species specific information and certain procedures. The trainings are not required however, they are highly encouraged, especially for new personnel.

To enroll in CITI Training, go to https://www.citiprogram.org/
  1. Click on:  “Register” under “Create an account”.
  2. Select “Texas Tech University” under “Participating Institutions”. Click on:  “Continue to Step 2”
  3. Enter First Name, Last Name, and Email Address. Click on: “Continue to Step 3”.
  4. Enter a “User Name” and “Password and choose a Security question in case you forget your password/login.  Click on:  “Continue to Step 4”.
  5. Answer demographic information only if you want to disclose, otherwise select “I choose not to disclose”.  Click on:  “Continue to Step 5”.
  6. Select “No” for CEU Credits unless you need them.  (CEU Credits are generally utilized by professionals that need to demonstrate ongoing career training).  Click on:  “Continue to Step 6”.
  7. Enter Identifier information. Click on:  “Continue to Step 7”.
  8. Select the suggested Species Specific and/or Surgery or Biosafety Trainings.
  9. Continue to your course.
Please note: if you have taken CITI Courses at another institution, please add "Texas Tech University" to your "Participating Institutions" in order to receive credit for previously completed courses.
