Texas Tech Receives High Marks in USDA Inspection

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) each year makes an unannounced visit to Texas Tech to examine our animal care and use programs.

The visit came in January this year with the veterinary medical officer inspecting animal facilities and all records for the past year in the Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee office.

There were no non-compliance issues reported during the visit. This is the third consecutive inspection that Texas Tech has been given high marks.

Texas Tech’s animal care and use program holds an assurance policy with the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare, is regulated by USDA, and holds a voluntary accreditation with AAALAC International. The program currently maintains the highest level of compliance with all agencies.
