Rick Shupe

Sr. Analyst/HRPP Program Coordinator

Rick Shupe works as a senior analyst and program coordinator in the Human Research Protection Program in the Office of the Vice President for Research. In this role he provides support to TTU investigators in the processing of submitting new proposals of their research studies involving human subjects and continues that support to investigators requesting protocol extensions, amendments and terminations.

Coming from a military family, Rick grew up around Ft. Bragg, NC where he worked more than 20 years in law enforcement and nuclear security; primarily as a supervisor in patrol, the training academy, and special operations teams. He received his B.S. from Mt. Olive College, a master’s degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix, and a master’s of public administration from Wayland Baptist University.

He has spent much of his working career training law enforcement officers in both the private and public sectors. As a certified law enforcement instructor in both North Carolina and Texas, Rick continues to teach criminal justice curriculum, train officers, and teach firearms classes in his spare time. Active in the music ministry at church, Rick also serves as a reserve peace officer and law enforcement consultant.
