CAYUSE: Firefox v22 Incompatibility Issue

July 11, 2013

The following information about Cayuse incompatibility with Firefox V22 was received from the Cayuse Support Center.

We have recently been made aware of an incompatibility issue with Mozilla Firefox 22.0, which was released on June 25th. If you have upgraded your browser to Firefox 22.0 in the last two weeks, you may experience problems working in Cayuse 424. Specifically, some users have reported problems with clicking on subaward proposals, switching between tabs, creating proposals and logging out of the application.

Our development team has already been made aware of the issue and are hard at work on a solution. In the meantime, we recommend that you do not upgrade to Firefox 22.0. If you have already upgraded, please follow the instructions we have included below to downgrade your browser. Please do not clickAbout Firefoxunder theHelpmenu as that will cause the update to download regardless of your settings. You can also continue to use Microsoft Internet Explorer as an alternative to Firefox.

Downgrading Firefox on a Windows computer:

  • Go to this page: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-older-version-of-firefox.
Under the Sub-Heading ‘I still want to downgrade–where can I get the previous version?’ you should see an option for Firefox 21. Click and download the file.
  • Open the file that was just downloaded. It should be called ‘Firefox Setup 21.0.exe’ Once the installer is open, quit Firefox.
  • Follow the steps to install Firefox 21 on the computer. This will replace the newer version of Firefox, but all of your settings and bookmarks should be in place.
  • After the install is complete, start Firefox and you should be able to access Cayuse 424 normally.

You’ll also want to disable automatic updates. To do so, just follow these steps:

  • While in Firefox, click the Firefox button at the top left of the window.
  • Select Options.
  • Go to the Advanced tab.
  • Navigate to the Update tab.
  • Under the category ‘Firefox updates,’ select ‘Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them.’
  • Click OK. Now you will be prompted for updates, but they will not install automatically. Until this issue is resolved, we suggest holding off on the new version of Firefox.
