Kathleen Everett Harris
Senior Associate Vice President for Research
Kathleen Everett Harris is Senior Associate Vice President for Research, directs the Office of Research Services (ORS) and serves as the facility security officer. A native Tennessean, Dr. Harris earned a B.A. from Carson-Newman College, a master’s degree in English from Eastern Kentucky University and a doctorate in higher education from the University of Kentucky.
She began her career in research administration at the University of Kentucky Research Foundation and subsequently served as associate director of research development at the University of Houston. After four years as assistant director of affirmative action at Texas Tech, she joined ORS as assistant director in 1987.
Dr. Harris is the university’s administrative representative to the Federal Demonstration Project. She has served as a member of the national board of the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) and as Vice Chair and Chair of Region V of NCURA. She is a member of the Society of Research Administrators and participates in meetings of the Intermountain University Research Administrators. Volunteer activities include serving on the board of the Osher Livelong Learning Institute, the advisory board of Texas Tech Early Head Start and as a member of the Acquisitions Committee of the Museum of Texas Tech University Association.
