The Hub is a place to nurture smart ideas and entrepreneurs to create a social or commercial value resulting in impact.

The Mission

The mission of the Texas Tech University Innovation Hub at Research Park is to be a major center for entrepreneurialism and innovation serving the Texas Tech University System and the West Texas region.

The Vision

The Innovation Hub at Research Park (The Hub) is the first of five facilities dedicated to house and provide access to resources to students, faculty, alum and entrepreneurs in the new entrepreneurship and innovation initiative at Texas Tech University. The focus of The Hub is to drive economic development in west Texas and beyond. The Hub opened late fall of 2015 and hired a full-time Managing Director in April 2016 to establish numerous programs for all TTU stakeholders to participate in the support of creative innovation, research commercialization, and start-up development.

The Hub assists in the formation of technology startup companies critically relevant to today's local and regional economy, startups create 80%+ of net new jobs, new industries and new solutions. TTU is experimenting with new approaches to economic and sustainable development that focus on growing jobs in productive, innovative, and traded sectors of the economy while concurrently equipping our service region's residents with the skills particularly in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) to compete for and succeed in high demand jobs. This new approach works to build on our university and region's distinctive assets and advantages of disparate places rather than merely pursuing heavily subsidized consumption-oriented strategies (e.g., building the next sports stadium, convention center, or performing arts facility).
