Call for Applications to the 2016 Kinetic Accelerator, Innovated by Texas Tech

Applications for the 2016 Kinetic Accelerator, Innovated by Texas Tech, are now open to students, staff, faculty members, and community members who wish to learn more about technology commercialization and entrepreneurship.

The accelerator's goals are to teach participants fundamentals of technology commercialization, how to launch successful start-up companies, and move intellectual property to market. Applications are available at KineticAccelerator.com or on the Texas Tech Office of Research Commercialization website.

Accelerator participants will attend a four-month program featuring an intensive startup curriculum tightly focused on the fundamentals of technology commercialization. As venture teams move through the program, they work closely with the faculty inventor, industry experts, and a robust mentor network to develop a commercialization roadmap for the technologies. The mentor network boasts professionals and experts from multiple disciplines each with commercialization experience and background; for example, their expertise is found in life sciences, medical diagnostics, enterprise software, renewable energy, and oil & gas.

In addition to Texas Tech technologies, venture teams can also choose to work with technologies from NASA and Crane Naval Laboratories.

The program concludes in May with the Demo Day showcase, where participants present their venture findings to an audience of angel investors, venture capitalists and business leaders. The winning team, decided by an audience vote, receives a trip to an entrepreneurial hub and the potential for further funding and development.

Applications are accepted from individuals or teams of no more than five. A stipend will be provided for student participants in lieu of course credit.
