Animal Care and Use Training and Forms
The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) has instituted a new Animal Use Form and new generic training procedures to assist faculty, staff and students.
All animal users must take and pass Generic Training. Previously, the training was offered twice a year, once in the fall and again in the spring semester. Now, the IACUC has developed an on-demand training that can be completed in a more timely and user-friendly way. The new generic training is available here. Species specific training also is available through the CITI Training Program, which is free through Texas Tech.
A new fillable Protocol for the Use of Live Animals for Research, Teaching or Demonstration has been developed. The form is designed to ask questions in a manner that will automatically tailor the form to be specific to the research being proposed. The new form and an instruction sheet are available here. A new Animal Use Form for wildlife and field research also has been created. It is available here.
