Texas Tech and Lubbock are Becoming a Part of the 1 Million Cups (1MC) Program Feb. 24
1 Million Cups is a free, weekly national program designed to educate, engage, and connect entrepreneurs. Developed by the Kauffman Foundation, 1MC is based on the notion that entrepreneurs discover solutions and network over a million cups of coffee.
The inaugural meeting of 1 Million Cups – Lubbock is set for 9-10 a.m. Feb. 24 at the Texas Tech University Innovation Hub, 3911 4th St., just east of Quaker Avenue. The group will meet at the same time and place each Wednesday. At every meeting one or two early-stage startup businesses will present their companies to a diverse audience of peers, mentors, educators, and advisors.
The inaugural meeting will feature an overview presentation of 1MC by Todd Knowlton, president of Smooth Fusion, a Lubbock-based digital strategy and development firm, and a presentation from a local entrepreneur.
1 Million Cups—Lubbock is being initiated by the Office of the Vice President for Research, through its director of translational research and entrepreneurialism, Jennifer Horn. A volunteer group of community entrepreneurs is serving as local organizers for the weekly event.
The community is welcome to join 1MC at the Innovation Hub any Wednesday at 9 a.m. for a free cup of coffee and an innovative educational experience. For more information: http://www.1millioncups.com/
