Transdisciplinary Research Academy
The Nomination Process
Nominations are solicited from deans at the university. Deans are invited to nominate Academy participants in two categories: as individuals or in teams. The criteria for nomination are:
Individuals
- Nominated by dean.
- Must have an established or emerging transdisciplinary scholarly agenda that will be enhanced by interaction with colleagues.
- Must have demonstrated interest in working collaboratively with faculty and students and a willingness to promote regional and global discussion.
- Must actively participate in all Academy workshops and meetings.
- Commit to submit a competitive proposal or white paper/education curriculum in the fall of 2012.
Teams
- Nominated by dean.
- Pre-existing group with a transdisciplinary focus and a global vision.
- Commitment to participate in all Academy workshops and meetings.
- Commitment to integrate research, educational and outreach missions with a regional to worldwide impact.
- Commitment to submit a competitive proposal and host a public discussion forum in the fall 2012.
Selected members will be required to participate in the Academy over the course of one year.
Completed applications must be emailed to Dr. Michael San Francisco by 5 p.m. on December 7, 2011.
The Selection Process
A committee composed of the deans as well as select faculty and members of the OVPR staff will review applications. The review process is expected to conclude on December 17, 2011.
Faculty will be notified of their admittance into the Academy by January 17, 2011.
Inauguration into the Academy will take place on January 27, 2012.
In its first year, the Academy will host five teams (approximately 20 faculty).
