Call For Proposals

To enhance opportunities for scholarly interactions, the Office of the Vice President for Research announces the availability of $50,000 in grant support to organize and to host major conferences on the TTU campus. Proposals will be evaluated by this office based on their academic impact and their contribution to the overall intellectual environment at Texas Tech.

Proposals may be submitted by any Texas Tech faculty member, regardless of departmental affiliation. The amount requested may not exceed $10,000. If the anticipated conference costs exceed this amount, the source of additional funds must be identified. The total award must be spent by August 31, 2009. The funds may be used for any conference-related expenditure except for food and beverages or special entertainment. Applicants are encouraged to propose topics that introduce new, novel areas of academic collaboration and to invite world-class participants to the TTU campus.

The OVPR will accept applications until Wednesday, December 12, 2007.

The conference proposal should not exceed 3 pages (including figures and tables) and is exclusive of abstract, budget, budget justification, and curriculum vitae. Proposal format will consist of one-inch margins on each numbered page, 1.5 line spacing, font size 12 point or larger and font type one of Arial, Helvetica, Palatino, Palatino Linotype or Georgia.

The Office of the Vice President for Research (2-3905) is available to answer any questions and to provide assistance in the preparation of proposals.

Upload Instructions

Proposals submitted in response to this Funding Opportunity must be submitted electronically and must be structured in two (2) PDF documents for upload as noted above. APPLICATIONS MAY NOT BE SUBMITTED IN PAPER FORMAT.

The upload process is secured through eraider and includes an electronic form to be completed at the time of submission.

Requests for conference support funds will be taken up to 4 P.M. (CDT) on Wednesday, December 12, 2007.

An electronic receipt for the upload will be automatically routed to the OVPR and to the eraider user uploading the proposal. An ORS internal routing sheet is not required.
