ATMO and WiSE Faculty Affiliate Awarded NSF CAREER Grant
Dr. Brian Ancell, Assistant Professor in ATMO, will be the recipient of a 5-year NSF CAREER grant entitled "CAREER: Quantifying Inadvertent Weather Modification and Education Through Museum Programs."
This project will focus on examining the effects that human activities (such as urban development, agricultural practices, and wind/solar power development) have on high-impact weather events on a variety of scales. Estimating how these effects are anticipated to evolve over the next century is also a goal of this work.
The project includes a major educational component in collaboration with the Museum of Texas Tech University that involves a museum exhibit, travelling educational trunks for local schools, and summer science camps.
