Hello, my name is Karol Giblin. I AM a Red Raider, graduating with a B.A. in History in 1983. Though Texas Tech ended up being my heart and home, what brought me here was The Goin' Band from Raiderland! I was a member of the Flag Corp and Tau Beta Sigma all four years of my undergraduate degree and you can still catch me on the field during Alumni Band Day performances and in the Alumni Court Jesters at basketball games. Following a move to Houston, I received my M.S. in Human Resources Management from Houston Baptist University. Every career I have had over the years has stemmed from the education and skills I learned from pursuing these degrees. I have worked in libraries, archives, the oil & gas industry, museums, and high schools. I taught AP World History for 14 years in Round Rock before returning to Lubbock to recruit for Texas Tech. I joined University Advising in September 2019.
My goal as an educator and advisor is to assist in the development of life-long learners who ultimately take responsibility for their learning, actions, and life. It is my core belief that all individuals have the right to educate themselves in the manner which best fits their goals in life, and I look forward to helping our Red Raiders find that fit. I try to practice life-long learning by reading widely, listening to podcasts on all matters of things, and traveling to new places (I REALLY like traveling).  To keep that work-life balance, I enjoy hiking, playing music, attending sporting events, and enjoying movies. I also like Star Trek, Star Wars, and stuff like that, just a “little” bit.
