Hey ya'll!

My name is Kelsi M. Oyler. I was born in the beautiful plains of the Oklahoma Panhandle. I attended the University of Central Oklahoma for a few years because I grew up to believe that college was the “next step” after high school. After studying early-childhood education for a few years, I realized I was miserable and had no direction in my life. I dropped out from college and moved to El Paso, Texas. While living in El Paso, I worked as a Preschool teacher, a Customer Service Manager for Hobby Lobby, a Bookkeeper for a non-profit organization, LIMBS International, and finally landed a position working in the Engineering Education and Leadership department at the University of Texas at El Paso. In that position, I was first introduced to the world of Academic Advising. I loved helping the students however I could and felt something click in myself that I found what I wanted to do. I decided to return to school but was very selfish about my education. The best advice I ever got was “Pick a degree that you can geek out on.” I finally found that degree at Texas Tech University in the University Studies program where I studied Family Life Studies, Communication Studies and Psychology.

Beginning my career at Texas Tech has been such an achievement for me as I now focus my energy into the students and helping them meet their academic and personal goals. Coming from a non-traditional background, I understand how much thought and planning and effort goes into one's education. I feel my calling in life is to help others through this phase of their life and help them nurture a life of fulfilment and success. I hope that I can help you too!

Wreck em!
