The Texas Distance Learning Association (TxDLA) notes that “Accessibility by individuals with disabilities to digital materials is one of the major technology issues of our time. The growth of online learning, and the increased use of digital materials in blended and flipped classrooms in K-12 and higher education has created more accessibility issues.”

With that significant concern in mind, Texas Tech University and the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources has made a commitment to ensure that our digital course materials are accessible to students with disabilities. With the creation of the Davis College Accessibility Compliance Team, working in conjunction with Davis College Online and Distance Education Support, we will be better able to assist the Davis College faculty to develop accessible course materials and ensure that their Blackboard courses follow accessibility and universal design principles.

Services Offered:

  • Proof and correct the caption SRT file generated after the eLearning Online Accessibility Lab captions course related videos.
  • Ensure that course syllabi and course schedule are accessible.
  • Ensure that course PowerPoints or other lecture note documents are accessible.
  • Demonstrate to faculty how to use accessibility best practices when developing new course materials.
  • Assist with descriptive hyperlinks, check for appropriate color contrast, and identify images missing Alt Tags in course materials.
