Petal to the mettle: AECO annual fertilizer sale underway
With the spring growing season just around the corner, Texas Tech University's Agricultural Economics Association today announced the launch of its annual fertilizer sale. Benefits from the fertilizer sale are used to support the association's scholarship program.
This is an excellent opportunity to purchase an annual supply of complete lawn and garden fertilizer with added benefit of free delivery, officials said. Two types of fertilizer specially blended for the South Plains region are available this season.
They are:
"21-7-7 Ag Eco Fertilizer, which is 21 percent nitrogen, 7 percent phosphorous, 7 percent potassium, 12 percent
sulfur, and 2 percent iron. The application rate is 20 lbs/1,000 sq. ft. The price
is $16 for a 40-pound bag.
"Fertilome Weed 'n Feed with Simizine herbicide, which is composed of 20 percent nitrogen, 4 percent potash,
and 0.1 percent iron. It is for use on St. Augustine and Bermuda grass. The application
rate is 16 lbs/2,500 sq. ft. The cost is $16 for a 16-pound bag.
The order deadline is Feb. 5. Orders are only being accepted by mail at Agricultural Economics Association; Box 42123; Texas Tech University; Lubbock, TX 79410-2132. The fertilizer will be delivered at no cost on Feb. 20.
