Election Update; National FFA leader to head CASNR Ag Council
An avidly engaged senior from Texas Tech's Department of Agricultural Education and Communications is the Ag Council's new president. Aspermont native and former national FFA officer Riley Branch, along with four other student leaders from across the college, were elected to new posts Wednesday (Apr. 21) at the organization's regular session.
Rounding out the slate of new officers are Vice President Trevor White, an agricultural and applied economics sophomore from New Home, and Secretary Loni Woolley, an animal science sophomore from Grandview. The new treasurer is Dean Black, an agriculture communications sophomore from Cleburne, and the scribe is Kaitlyn True, a meat science business freshman from Plainview.
Outgoing Ag Council President Ashley Larkin said she was honored to have had the opportunity to work with all members this past year. "The progress we've made is something I can see our next officer team take to the next level," she said. "All five are capable of helping this organization grow."
Among the activities Ag Council representatives participated in this year were Ag Fest, Ag Olympics, Homecoming Breakfast, Pig Roast, Ag-in-the-Bag, and a barbeque cook-off, along with several member organization volunteer projects. The council also organized a Tailgating Queen fundraiser and a Boots-to-Suits Career Seminar.
Ag Council members include representatives from the Ag Communicators of Tomorrow; Agronomy Club; Alpha Gamma Rho; American Society of Landscape Architecture; Beef Cattle Show Team; Block and Bridle; Collegiate FFA; Collegiate 4-H; and Collegiate Horseman Association.
Other member organizations are the Entomology Club; Equestrian Team; Farm House Fraternity; Food Technology; Freshman Ag Council; Horticulture Society; Meat Sciences Association; Pre-Vet Society; Range, Wildlife and Fisheries Club; Rodeo Association; and the Sigma Alpha Sorority.
