Janota receives Student Academic Citizenship Award
A senior from Texas Tech's Department of Animal and Food Sciences is the recipient of a Student Academic Citizenship Award from The Parents Association, officials announced today (Apr. 2). The association will hold a special reception and awards presentation next week in the United Spirit Arena's City Bank Room on the campus.
Kaleigh Janota, an animal science major from Gonzales, is one of 13 Tech students honored for their creativity, excellence and dedication. She will receive a plaque and a $150 stipend as part of the award.
"The student honorees have a tremendous amount of talent and investment in Texas Tech and their community" said Ken Gassiot, Tech's associate director of Parent and Family Relations. "These individuals are first-class and well-deserving of not only being nominated, but also selected as recipients."
Separately, four faculty awards were announced. They were the Distinguished Leadership Award, Spencer A. Wells Award for Creativity in Teaching, Hemphill-Wells New Faculty Award, and Barnie E. Rushing Distinguished Research Award.
The Texas Tech Parents Association was founded in 1956 and officials claim that it provides a network of other parents and family members to connect, along with student scholarships and recognition, and support for programs in collaboration with Tech's Office of Parent and Family Relations.
