New academic planner unveiled by CASNR's Ambassadors for Agriculture
The first annual academic planner produced by Texas Tech's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources is off the press and ready for your desktop, officials announced today. The $10 spiral-bound, 5½ x 8½ inch planners include critical college specific dates for departmental program events and academic deadlines, as well as university-wide dates and information.
The new publication, which is available in CASNR's Student Services Center, contains other useful references for students including departmental contacts, organizations, clubs and competitive teams, said Elizabeth Bertrand, president of CASNR's Ambassadors for Agriculture program. Information on student services available specifically to CASNR students is also in the document.
Bertrand noted that the planners are a fundraising effort for the long-standing CASNR student organization, which is comprised of distinguished students who act as representatives of the college at numerous functions at both state and national level. Dedicated to ensuring the growth of agriculture and natural resource opportunities, the primary mission of the group is to travel throughout Texas to promote agricultural awareness, she said.
Members of what's informally known as Ag Ambassadors compete in state and national level agriculture and natural resource speaking competitions. Since many of the students have backgrounds in 4-H, FFA and other similar organizations, they're active in motivational and informative speaking for youth groups, students, civic clubs and other audiences.
Proceeds from sales of the planners will be used to defray traveling expenses for the Ag Ambassadors and cover other costs associated with activities that are undertaken by the group, Bertrand said. With the support of the students within CASNR, the ambassadors hope to continue to produce the planner again next year.
