Agricultural Council: Travis Tilton named March 'Aggie of the Month'
By: Steeley Smith
Name: Travis Tilton; Major: Animal Science; Classification: Sophomore; Organization: Meat Science Association; Hometown: Cleburne; Month: March
Travis Tilton, a sophomore animal science major from Cleburne, has been named Texas Tech's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources March Aggie of the Month.
"It is an honor to receive an award that symbolizes the unity and success of all the organizations involved with Ag Council," Tilton said.
Ag Council improved Tilton's understanding of what other organizations in CASNR do, as well as helped him share information and ideas with those organizations.
Tilton was not only drawn to the success of Texas Tech, but the positive outlook Red Raiders shared. He chose CASNR because he wanted to be a part of a college that allowed him to learn and grow, while also being surrounded by people with the same goals.
"I really enjoy the diversity, although we are all ag majors in some form, whenever you walk into a classroom or organization you are surrounded by people from all walks of life and can learn about backgrounds and career interest. Many of these majors I was not familiar with when I came to Texas Tech."
After graduation, Tilton plans to obtain a master's degree in meat science, and then pursue a career in the beef industry.
