The Farm Journal is set to host the U.S. Farm Report and AgriTalk College Road Show in conjunction with Texas Tech University's Celebrate Cotton football game against the University of Houston at Jones AT&T Stadium, officials with Tech's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources said today. The program will run from 10 a.m. to noon Friday (Sept. 14) at the southwest gate of Jones AT&T Stadium.
The U.S. Farm Report, which airs locally on Fox 34, features experts discussing the latest happenings and trends in the world of agriculture with a particular focus on the cotton industry. Friday's show will highlight the research and efforts being done within CASNR that affect all aspects of agriculture, a vital part of life in West Texas.
Guests are expected to include Phil Johnson, Darren Hudson and Glen Ritchie. Johnson is the Charles Thompson Chair of the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics and is an expert in agribusiness finance, financial analysis and property appraisal. Hudson is the Larry Combest Chair in Agricultural and Applied Economics and is an expert in the cotton market and economic projections. Ritchie is an associate professor of crop physiology in the Department of Plant and Soil Science who examines effective and economical water management strategies for area crop production.
Separately, CASNR Dean William Brown is scheduled to be on the show. A nationally-recognized administrator and researcher from the University of Tennessee, he joined the CASNR administration this spring. "CASNR is a national leader in preparing and placing workforce-ready students, discovering groundbreaking knowledge and technologies to enhance people's lives and engaging in public service," he said.
