To get the spring semester off to a tasty start, members of Davis Colleges Dr. Bill Bennett Student Success Center held its annual 'Winter Welcome event Thursday (Feb. 5) at the Texas Tech Animal & Food Sciences Livestock Arena.
“Winter Welcome is the best event to kick off the semester,” said Davis College's Program Manager for Recruitment & Marketing Chloe Krause. "This years queso winner - Block & Bridle - took home the coveted 'Golden Cheese Grater' prize. "

Queso Cookoff prizes were also awarded to Alpha Gamma Rho for second place, with third place going to MANRRS. Sigma Alpha took home the Peoples Choice Award . The Queso Cookoff was judged by a panel of staff and faculty members from across the college.

Alongside the Queso-Cookoff, Winter Welcome featured the annual “Mr. Davis College Pageant,” which this year went Alpha Gamma Rho's Brady Flauaus, while the Peoples Choice Award went to MANRRS' Avery Fredrick. The participants competed in three categories: talent, western wear, and interview.
Students invited to Winter Welcome got a taste of the queso and had the opportunity to see what each organization had to offer, Krause said.
