AEC’s Kadyn Collins Named Lead Content Specialist at Davis College

Kadyn Collins, a recent graduate of Texas Tech’s Department of Agricultural Education & Communications, has been appointed Lead Content Specialist in the Dean’s Office of the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources, college officials announced this week.

Collins steps into his new position with on-the-ground experience across Davis College communications initiatives, including hands-on involvement with the college’s Pursuit of Prime strategic vision. 

For Collins, the role represents both a professional milestone and a continuation of work that began during his graduate studies.

“I’m truly excited about the possibility of dedicating my full focus to work that I find both meaningful and creatively fulfilling,” Collins said. “Throughout my time with Davis College, I’ve developed and managed content across a wide range of platforms, including websites, social media channels, print materials and advertisements.”

Mary Moenning, Davis College’s director of strategic marketing and communications, said Collins’ appointment reflects the college’s growing emphasis on cohesive storytelling and brand strategy. Collins has already demonstrated an instinct for visual storytelling and an understanding of the mission, she said. 

Moenning, a 2019 graduate of Davis College with a degree in agricultural communications and a minor in animal science, returned to her alma mater in July after building a career in agricultural and food public relations and brand marketing. Her resume includes work with Curious Plot, a Minneapolis-based agency known for its agricultural and food-sector clientele, and dual roles at Hormel Foods in Austin, Minnesota, where she served as communications manager and quality control supervisor.

Collins steps into his new position with on-the-ground experience across Davis College communications initiatives, including hands-on involvement with the college’s Pursuit of Prime strategic vision. The 10-year initiative – inspired by the prime grade of beef, representing the top 10 percent of quality – seeks to elevate the college into the top tier of agricultural schools nationally.

Before joining the Dean’s Office full time, Collins served as an agricultural communications creative media director and student marketing assistant while completing both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Texas Tech. In those roles, he developed a portfolio that included photography, videography and graphic design, and contributed to the development and production of the college’s Prime campaign, guiding print and digital communications from concept to launch.

He also worked as a communications intern with the Austin-based Texas Hemp Coalition; a nonprofit advocacy and educational organization focused on supporting the growth and sustainability of the state’s hemp industry.

Collins’ appointment comes as Moenning expands the college’s marketing and communications operation. Alongside Collins, she is building a six-member team of graduate and undergraduate students to support digital strategy, content production and brand development across the college.

Among them are Jesus Hernandez, a student assistant majoring in geo science from Alvin, Texas; Brooke Myers, master's student assistant in agricultural communications from Vernon, Texas; Presley Ramey, master’s student assistant in agricultural communications from Caldwell, Idaho; Ashlynn Rogers, a student assistant majoring in agricultural leadership from Brock, Texas; Wes Shaw, a student assistant majoring in agricultural communications from Mclean, Texas; Brooke Swaffield, a master’s student assistant in agricultural communications from Dawson Creek, Canada; and Torrance Thedford, a student assistant majoring in agricultural communications from Nevada, Texas.
