Texas Techs annual Day of Giving is happening March 24 at 8 a.m. through March 25 at 4:03 p.m. CST. This year, Davis College is elated to feature six funds that support research, scholarship, student success, and outreach and engagement. The funds include the Agricultural Sciences Fund for Excellence, Davis College General Scholarship Fund, MILE Fund for Excellence, Therapeutic Riding Program Enhancement, and the Agricultural Sciences Student Assistance Fund.
'For us, Day of Giving is a great way to encourage students to get involved in philanthropy and begin to build a philanthropic mindset, so that one day they can continue to give back to Texas Tech.
“Day of Giving is an opportunity to give at any level and support a great cause, because every donation goes directly toward the funds you select, and multiple donors can come together to make a big impact, which can happen year-round,” said Tyler Schuster, assistant director of development at Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources.
Those funds include the Agricultural Sciences Fund for Excellence, Davis College General Scholarship Fund, MILE Fund for Excellence, Therapeutic Riding Program Enhancement, and the Agricultural Sciences Student Assistance Fund.
- The Agricultural Sciences Fund for Excellence provide opportunities for alumni and students through connections and events. This fund helps the college exemplify and work toward our Pursuit of Prime.
- The Agricultural Sciences Student Assistance Endowment fund provides support to Davis College students facing tragedy or unexpected hardship. This fund helps ensure that students can continue their education during challenging times, offering stability and relief when it is needed most.
- The Davis College General Scholarship Fund is offered to incoming freshmen, incoming transfers, current students, and graduate students. These scholarships are awarded to student based on students' financial need, leadership, and academic achievements.
- The Companion Animal Science Research Fund supports students and researchers with their studies on how dogs sense of smell works and how training and environmental factors influence their detection abilities, using activities like controlled olfactometer tasks and search games to advance scientific knowledge and improve scent detection methods.
- The MILE Fund for Excellence supports the MILE Program as they offer unique leadership and professional development experiences during a three-semester cohort, which is made up of 14 selected students that represent each Davis College undergraduate academic department. Students enroll in a MILE course each semester of the cohort and receive a leadership certificate upon completion of the MILE Program.
- The Therapeutic Riding Program Enhancement Fund supports all operations at the TTRC. Funds will be dispersed between horse maintenance such as supplements, veterinary care, chiropractic work and acupuncture, and riderships, which cover the costs hippotherapy and therapeutic riding lessons for participants.
This year, students have a unique opportunity to make an even greater impact, as every student contribution will be matched.
“For us, Day of Giving is a great way to encourage students to get involved in philanthropy and begin to build a philanthropic mindset, so that one day they can continue to give back to Texas Tech,” Schuster said.
We encourage Davis College alumni, students, and donors to support future Red Raiders by participating in this years Day of Giving. Set your alarms for March 24 at 8:00am CST and visit the Day of Giving website.
