Texas Tech’s Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources has appointed Megan Biggs, an alumna of the college’s animal science program and a veteran education administrator, as Program Manager for Academic Student Programs, college officials announced this month.

Biggs joins the Davis College Dean’s Office team charged with recruiting, advising and retaining students across the college’s seven academic departments. ‘I’m thrilled for the opportunity to return to my Red Raider roots and join the student success team.’

Biggs began her role on Feb. 23 and will be based in the Dr. Bill Bennett Student Success Center, where she joins the Davis College Dean’s Office team charged with recruiting, advising and retaining students across the college’s seven academic departments.

“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to return to my Red Raider roots and join the student success team,” Biggs said. “I am eager to apply my passion for education and leadership in assisting our students navigate their own journey at Texas Tech.”

In her new position, Biggs will oversee the coordination of academic advising policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with department, college, university and state curriculum requirements. She will work closely with the associate director for student success to address student concerns and support advising outcomes, while also assisting the associate dean for academic and student programs with annual reporting and assessment.

Her responsibilities extend to serving as the primary point of contact for college-level academic advising and managing a range of student-related processes, including grade changes, major and minor updates, withdrawals and registration issues. Biggs will also act as the college’s academic advising liaison to academic departments and the university registrar, manage meetings of the Davis College Advisors Council, and serve as a resource for students and parents navigating academic or personal challenges.

Biggs earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science and agricultural economics from Texas Tech, followed by a master’s degree in agricultural education and communications from the university. She later completed a master’s degree in educational administration from Wayland Baptist University.

Before returning to Texas Tech, Biggs built a career in public education, serving as an assistant principal at multiple campuses within the Plainview Independent School District, including the district’s Early Learning Center, Intermediate School, Junior High and Hillcrest Elementary. Earlier in her career, she taught at College Hill Elementary, La Mesa Elementary and Edgemere Elementary.

She also brings experience from within the university, having previously served as a unit coordinator for Texas Tech’s Animal Care and Use Committee and Animal Care Services, where she focused on regulatory compliance for animal research projects across campus.

The Dr. Bill Bennett Student Success Center, led by Associate Dean for Academic and Student Programs Robert Cox, houses a multidisciplinary team dedicated to supporting students from recruitment through graduation. Team members include Sandra Addo, assistant director for recruitment and career development; Madonna Bullard, student success specialist; Chloe Krause, program manager for recruitment and marketing; Brittyn LeCompte, program manager for college recruitment and Maeley Stroupe, associate director for student success

The center is named for Bill Bennett, a longtime faculty member in the Department of Plant and Soil Science who joined Texas Tech in 1968. Bennett played a pivotal role in advancing student engagement and scholarship fundraising, and helped establish programs such as Ambassadors for Agriculture and Agri-Techsans, initiatives that continue to shape recruitment and student involvement at the university.
