Texas Tech's International Center for Food Safety Excellence is part of a broad effort to develop detection and surveillance networks to help protect from future outbreaks of salmonella bacteria. Earlier this year Tech, Angelo State University and California State University-Fresno received a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture totaling more than $700,000.

Recognizing the increasing emphasis on agriscience-teacher welding abilities, Texas Tech University's Department of Agricultural Education and Communication saw the need and applied for a Lincoln Electric Company Welding Education Grant. The result: the department has been selected as one of six institutions from across the nation to receive the new funding.

The Erin A. Wheeler-Cook Fellowship Endowment was established by various donors in 2011. The scholarship funds graduate fellowships for students enrolled in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics.

The Agricultural Economics/Marketing Graduate Fellowship was established by the First Ag Credit, Co Bank, and others in 2006. The purpose of the funds are to be used to fund a graduate fellowship for a graduate student in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economic whose research work will be in agricultural economics and marketing.

The A. F. and Kathleen Wishkaemper Scholarship was established by Mike and Mary Wishkaemper in 2006. The scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students of any classification majoring in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics.

The Willard F. Williams Former Student Memorial Scholarship was established by the family, friends, colleagues, and students of Dr. Willard F. Williams in 1988. The scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students with a classification of sophomore or higher, majoring in Agricultural Economics.

The Sujit K. Roy Memorial Scholarship was established by the Agricultural Economics Former Students Association in 1998. The scholarship is awarded to undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Agricultural Economics.

The David Phillips, Saddle Tramps, Memorial Scholarship Endowment was established by the First National Bank of Panhandle in 1992. The scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students majoring in Agricultural Economics, Finance, or Business with preference to Saddle Tramp members. Frist priority will go to agricultural economics majors who are members of the Saddle Tramps organization, with finance and business majors who are members of the Saddle Tramps being secondary considerations. The scholarship is renewable if the recipient remains in good academic standing with the University.
