2020-2021 Undergraduate Student Scholarship Application Process

The School of Art has allocated $18,000 in scholarship funds to be awarded to continuing undergraduate School of Art majors in Art History, Graphic Design, Studio Art (all studio areas), and Art Education for the 2020-2021 academic year.

ONE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION will need to be completed for you to be eligible for consideration for the scholarships as described below. Application deadline is Friday, March 13, 2020.

  • Continuing Undergraduate Art Majors may apply for Talent-Based and Need-Based scholarships. Scholarship amounts range from $3,000 to $500. Applications will be reviewed and awarded by your respective area-of-study faculty.
  • School of Art Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship: This competitive, $2,000 scholarship is a merit-based award recognizing a School of Art student's accomplishments beyond his or her specific area of specialization in their Junior or Senior year. It seeks to encourage students' efforts to excel in all the fields of study they consider while at the School of Art. It is awarded to a student whose academic record and portfolio of work attests/demonstrates exceptional work ethic and higher than common expectations, which are invaluable assets in professional life and for those thinking of pursuing graduate studies. 

APPLICATION DEADLINE IS 5:00 PM, FRIDAY, MARCH 13, 2020.

Your application will need to be completed in a two-part process.

PART 2: Once the Application Form has been completed and SUBMITTED, follow up by emailing all the required Application Materials to SOA.Scholarships@TTU.EDU by the stated deadline date.

APPLICATION MATERIALS

  1. All Applicants must submit a RECENT TTU TRANSCRIPT: Unofficial copy will be accepted; include as a PDF. 
  2. BFA in Graphic Design, Studio Art, or Art Education applicants submit DIGITAL PORTFOLIO: : Select 10 recent artworks from your area(s) of study (e.g., drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, jewelry & metals, graphic design, film & video, installation, etc.) Digital Portfolio must be submitted as a PDF of a PowerPoint Slideshow; jpegs should be about 1 MG each. Build the slideshow including image titles, media, dimensions in inches (height x width x depth); save as a PDF. Loose image files of artworks or Powerpoint Presentations will not be accepted. For video work, submit a link to a Vimeo location or other external video location.
  3. Art Education majors (only) will ALSO need to submit a PDF  of their Curriculum Plan.
  4. BA in Art History applicants, please submit a PDF of a University level Art History paper of 3-8 pages (750-2000 words), typed, double spaced, 12-point font, with footnotes/endnotes, bibliography, and illustrations.
  5. Undeclared majors and BA students in Art: Please submit EITHER a Digital Portfolio of 5-10 recent artworks (e.g., drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, jewelry & metals, graphic design, film & video, installation, etc.) submitted as a PDF of a PowerPoint Slideshow including image titles, media, dimensions in inches (height x width x depth). OR submit a PDF of a University level Art History paper of 3-8 pages (750-2000 words), typed, double spaced, 12-point font, with footnotes/endnotes, bibliography, and illustrations is preferred. Loose image files of artworks or Powerpoint Presentations will not be accepted. For video work, submit a link to a Vimeo location or other external video location.
  6. Juniors or Seniors applying for the SCHOOL OF ART EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP must submit BOTH the Digital Portfolio of Artworks (see instructions above in 2) AND the University Level Art History Paper - submitted as PDFs.
